Step 3: The Charity Auction Sale
Once the Car Donation Center has possession of your automobile, you are no longer responsible for anything pertaining to the vehicle. The Center will take care of the sale of the car and make sure the most money is obtained, whether the car can be sold as a whole (in some cases it may be fixed up first) or whether it is sold in parts. If being sold in tact and the inspection and registration expires while in custody of the Center, it is the Car Donation Center’s responsibility to get those items up-to-date, not the donor.
Step 4: The Distribution of the Proceeds to Charity
Once the sale is finalized, the Car Donation Center will ensure the proper amount of money goes to the correct charity or nonprofit organization. In most cases, you can request which charity gets the proceeds from your donation.
