If you are unfamiliar with the process of donating a car in NJ, you may be wondering what all you have to do. Not much actually. It’s pretty simple.

1. You contact a vehicle donation processing center for donating a car in New Jersey.
2. The processing center will arrange for the pick up of your donated vehicle by a reputable towing company, at no cost to you, and that thorn in your side you call a vehicle is out of there with 24-72 hours.
3. The processing center supplies you with a tax deductible receipt and any other paperwork applicable to your pledge. They take care of lost titles, smog paperwork, DMV paperwork, etc. (In the event that you donate to Kars for Kids, you also get that free hotel voucher. Again - sweet!)
4. The processing center that is taking care of your act of kindness of donating a car in NJ will also make sure the sell of your vehicle brings in as much money as possible to benefit as many charities and nonprofit organizations possible.
5. Keep in mind that you can donate more than just a car in NJ. You can donate a car, truck, motorcycle, trailer, motor vehicle, boat, or farm vehicle. No cows though. Absolutely no cows. You can only donate actual vehicles with mechanical parts. Sorry. These processing centers are just funny that way.

Also note that these vehicles don’t have to actually run to be accepted. You can donate a heaping pile of metal that wouldn’t run no matter how hard you kicked it or no matter what you did to it. Because non-running vehicles can be sold for parts or sold for scrap metal, they are gladly accepted as well. So don’t play kick the can too hard with your little vehicle friend.
