Donate Furniture. Unless You’re Saving it for a Bonfire, That is.

If you chose to donate furniture instead of torching you unused, unwanted furniture in a massive bonfire, you would be making an incredible difference in the lives of others who are in need. Now granted a bon fire would be a lot of fun, but knowing how many others need that furniture, it just wouldn’t be right. Think about it, my friend.

Let’s look at who all could benefit from your decision to donate furniture and then you can decide on whether or not to have that torch fest:

  • Low income families who can’t afford to buy any furniture at all
  • Senior citizens on very fixed incomes
  • Those that used to be homeless but are now transitioning into some type of living quarters
  • Families who have lost everything to a fire (makes the bonfire less appealing, doesn’t it?)
  • Struggling college students
  • Refugees that come here for protection
  • …many, many others

Your decision to donate furniture can mean that a family can actually eats dinner together at a table or that a child can do homework on a desk, not in the floor. It means an elderly person can rest comfortably when needed. And it means a single mother can put her baby in a crib, not on a pallet on the floor. It also means that many children will have toys to play with who otherwise wouldn’t.

Plus when you donate furniture instead of torching it or taking it to the dump, you are helping the environment. This keeps our landfills less packed with non-biodegradable junk, you can officially say you’ve recycled big items, and you help someone in need as well. See, no bonfire needed.

Plus, many centers accepting furniture donations will arrange to have the furniture picked up. They’ll also provide you with a tax deductible receipt. You wouldn’t get a tax deductible receipt if you had a bonfire though. You may get a ticket, a bill, and some enemies for burning down the neighbor’s trees. Hardly seems worth it.

While we’re on the topic of donated items being picked up, you can donate more than furniture and have it picked up. You may also donate a car or other type of vehicle and benefit from free pick up as well. It is also tax deductible and the sale of it will benefit many needy families and individuals. Most processing centers accept cars, trucks, boats, motor vehicles, trailers, motorcycles, and jet skis. Whether you want to donate furniture or a vehicle, know that it is the easiest way to help out your fellow man. You don’t have to right out a check and you can get your donated items picked up at no cost to you. Don’t forget it is a tax deductible act and you don’t even have to have a bon fire. How easy is that?
